WILMINGTON — Richard “Dick” Carl Conley, 80, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center, with his wife and stepsons at his side.
Mr. Conley was born Nov. 20, 1935, in Johnson County, Kentucky, son of the late Mitchell Conley and Ruie Blanton Conley. His first wife, Greta M. Conley, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of seven years, Virginia Daw Cribb Conley; daughter, Marlena Taylor of Indiana; son, Rick Conley and wife, Joyce, of Ohio; three stepsons, Anthony, Charlie, and David Cribb and their wives, all of Wilmington; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; a very “special” cousin, Phillis Conley of Ohio; and his special little dog, “LuLu”. He had many friends he left behind. He loved his family very much and they loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Paul Waters officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour (and at other times at his home).
