CURRIE — Lawrence “Larry” Lee Chestnutt, 72, of Currie, passed from his earthly life on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at New Hanover Regional Medical center.

He was born Oct. 3, 1943, in Duplin County, the son of the late William Earl and Mildred Elizabeth Rivenbark Chestnutt. He was also preceded in death by his son, Randy Chestnutt.

Mr. Chestnutt is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Blanton Chestnutt; daughters, Kimberly Sue Newton and Tammy Locke; grandchildren, Wesley Gore, Ashley Locke, and Lynsi Newton; brother, Danny Chestnutt (Norma); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was a member of Long Creek Baptist Church.

He was a devoted husband and loving daddy, granddaddy, brother and friend who took wonderfully good care of his family. Always enjoying the outdoors in God’s beautiful woods, rivers and streams, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Being blessed with a musical talent, he enjoyed singing along while playing his guitar. Cherished memories of him will forever remain in our hearts.

A memorial service to celebrate his life and how he lived on this earth will be held at a later date.
