SHALLOTTE — James Alfred Childs, 82, of Shallotte, passed away Saturday Oct. 15, 2016, at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.
He was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on Aug. 7, 1934, the son of the late Alfred Childs and June McRoberts Childs.
Mr. Childs was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Henni Estenfelder Childs of the home; a son, Jamie Childs of Mattapoisett, Mass.; two daughters, Patricia Nobrega and husband, Dennis, of Marion, Mass., and Fay Layman and husband, Tim, of Rome, Ga.; a sister, Gerry Labarre and husband, Dick of Poquoson, Va.; two step-sons, Mark Mitchell and wife, Ashley, of Shallotte, and Bill Mitchell and wife, Betty, of Fayetteville, N.C.; one step-daughter, Lorelei Schoonmaker and husband, Tony, of Bay City, Wis. ; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
