HOLDEN BEACH — Colonel (Ret.) U.S. Army Charles E. Stokes Jr., 78, of Holden Beach, N.C., died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016.
He was born October 4, 1938, in Kanawha, West Virginia, son of the late Charles E Stokes Sr. and Celestine Werner Stokes. Charles was a Retired Colonel of the U.S Army. He was a member of the Rotary International and the Greenbrier Military School Alumni Association.
Surviving are his wife, Rosnani “Rose” Stokes; son, Danny Stokes of Tacoma, Wash.; daughter, Camela S. Noonan of Fayetteville, N.C.; sister, Ruth Ann Riffee of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to the Salvation Army: 820 N 2nd Street Wilmington, NC 28401.
A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at 4 p.m. at the Holden Beach Chapel.
