Lillian Ann Monroe Barbee, 87, native of Lancaster, South Carolina

WILMINGTON — Lillian Ann Monroe Barbee, affectionately known as “Honey” to family, 87, formerly of Wilmington, N.C., died Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at Circle of Life Hospice Center in Springdale, Ark. She was born on June 16, 1929, in Lancaster, S.C. to the late Henry Christopher and Henriella Brunson Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Vivian Barbee Jr. and her two sons, Ernest Vivian Barbee III and Timothy Bryan Barbee.

She is survived by her daughter, Anita Barbee Young and husband, L. Irving Young Jr. of Springdale, Ark., and her son, Mark Scott Barbee of Wilmington, N.C. Also, three grandchildren, I. Christopher Young and wife, Jennifer, of Rogers, Ark., Josh Barbee, of Wilmington, N.C., and Sarah Elizabeth Young Camp and husband, Kyle of Conway, Ark., and one great-grandchild, Grayson Irving Young, of Rogers, Ark. Also, she is survived by a sister, Gayle Croom, of Currie, N.C. and a brother, Donald Monroe, of Wilmington, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, where a memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow the service at Oakdale Cemetery, Wilmington, N.C.
