Wiley Franklin Hinson Jr., 74, founder and Scout master of Boy Scout Troop 277

WILMINGTON — Wiley Franklin Hinson Jr., 74, of Wilmington, N.C., passed away Oct. 28, 2016. He was born in Wilmington on March 29, 1942, to the late Wiley Franklin Hinson Sr. and Mittie Odell Hinson.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hinson was predeceased by his daughter Cindy Louise Johnson.

Mr. Hinson was a member of Wrightsville Avenue Church of God, where he was the commander and founder of Royal Rangers and Boy Rangers. He was a Scout leader of Boy Scouts Troop 234 in Scott’s Hill. He was also a member of Pine Valley Church of God where he was founder and Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 277. He was an avid supporter and sponsor of the Church of God Children’s Home in Kannapolis, N.C.

Mr. Wiley Franklin Hinson Jr., is survived by his wife, Geraldine Hinson of the home, sons; Wiley Hinson III of Pitt County, Daniel Hinson and wife Joelina of Wilmington, N.C.,; daughters Tammy Russell of Wilmington, N.C., Sara Wright and husband, James, of Rocky Point, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., with a celebration of Life service being held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Pine Valley Church of God with Pastor Larry Horrell officiating. Condolences to the family may be offered at www.coblewardsmithwilmington.com.
