James Lewis Todd, 72, enjoyed a fulfilling career with the Salvation Army

WILMINGTON — James Lewis Todd, age 72, of Wilmington passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.

He was born October 13, 1944, in Ashbula, Ohio, the son of Lewis Melvin Todd and Kathleen Myer Todd.

James retired after a long and fulfilling career with Salvation Army in Wilmington, where he was a delivery truck driver and dedicated time to the disaster relief efforts in many areas within the United States. He was very active with the senior softball league in the local area and played for the Patriots, Jiffy Lube and, later, the Leland team.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 27 years, Bonnie Lou Todd; four children; two step-children; 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four brothers and sisters; and numerous other loving family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, at the Salvation Army Chapel, 223 S. 3rd Street, Wilmington, NC 28401. A reception will follow and those in attendance are welcome to bring a covered dish for all to enjoy during the time of fellowship.

Memorials in James’ memory may be made to the family toward medical and other expenses incurred during his illness.
