LELAND — Sidney Johnson Lester, age 83, of Leland, passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at his home. He was born in Guilford County, N.C., to G.F. Lester and Maude Lemmons Lester.
Sidney was a longtime resident of Leland and was a Security Guard at DuPont until his retirement.
He is survived by his special friend and companion of 37 years, Bertha Lucille Denny; children, Mike Lester, Ricky Lester, Trish Chavis, Sandra Coffey, Debbie Coffey and Clifford Coffey; 19 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
The family will see friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation Village Road Chapel in Leland. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m Wednesday, Nov. 16, at New Life Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery on Village Road, Leland, officiated by Rev. Perry Arrington.
