

WILMINGTON — Nancy Pleune Kiefhaber, 84, of Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at Davis Health Care Center with her family by her side.
Nancy was born on March 19, 1932, in Grand Rapids, MI, to the late Chester and Irene Pleune. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Wojciki.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ed Kiefhaber; three children, Karen Heinecke, Jim Kiefhaber and Pam Bolton, and their spouses, Jayne Kiefhaber and Mark Bolton; five grandchildren, Andy Kiefhaber, Nancy Schneider, Caitlin Wojciki, Cassie Wojciki and JJ Wojciki; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia Schneider and Austin Kiefhaber.
Nancy graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Nutritional Science, and was a lifelong member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She interned at the Mayo Clinic and worked at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids as a dietitian for several years.
She married Ed and then spent her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an avid volunteer with the Cape Fear Literacy Council, AAUW, New Hanover School System, St. Andrews Covenant Presbyterian Church, as well as numerous other church and civic organizations.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, at St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church 1416 Market St., Wilmington, NC 28401. Reception immediately following at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401; or the Cape Fear Literacy Council, 1012 S. 17th St., Wilmington, NC 28401. She will be honored and missed by her family and friends.
