

WILMINGTON — Verna Marie Holliday Jordan, 69, of Wilmington, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2016.
She was born July 8, 1947, to the late Ruth Comeau Holliday and Robert Holliday.
Verna grew up in Raleigh, N.C., attended classes at UNCW and later went on to become a highly accomplished ballroom dance instructor, teaching classes at UNC-Wilmington and the Senior Center, in addition to owning and operating a Ballroom Dance Sport Studio in Wilmington for over a decade.
To know Verna was to love Verna. Her humility, passion for dancing and dedicated teaching endeared her to all who knew her. Her gentleness, intelligence and grace will be remembered in the legacy of the many dancers and loved ones she leaves behind.
Verna is survived by her fiancé, Douglas Holland; four daughters, Erica Jordan Kelly, Diana Jordan, Emily Jordan Fontana and Elizabeth Jordan; and three brothers, Paul, Denis and James Holliday.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1416 Market St., Wilmington, NC 28401.
