

WILMINGTON — Glenda Brown Pleasant, 79, of Wilmington, N.C., joined her Lord and Savior in heaven on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, while at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center, and will now be eternally united with her late husband, Graham.
She was born in Johnston County, N.C., on Dec. 9, 1936, daughter of the late Purcell C. Brown and Mattie Gay Brown. Her husband, Graham Pleasant, preceded her in death in 1987. In addition, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Brown; sister-in-law, Jaylee Brown; and brother, Cramer Brown.
Mrs. Pleasant and her husband were the owners and operators of Quality Distributors of Wilmington. Later in life, she enjoyed working with her son, Scottie, at Pleasant Motor Company, where everyone affectionately knew her as “Grandma,” especially Lenin Romero, who she considered a beloved member of her family. She loved watching baseball and was always supportive and involved with the various activities of her grandchildren. Mrs. Pleasant was an active member of College Acres Baptist Church for over 30 years.
Mrs. Pleasant is survived by two daughters, Jeannie Pleasant Parker and her husband, Billy Parker, and Tammie Pleasant Thacker, and her husband, Dennis Thacker; a son, Scottie Pleasant, and his wife, Cathy M. Pleasant; grandchildren, Erin Pleasant Boswell, and her husband, Matthew Boswell, Ryan Pleasant, and his fiancé, Kristin Nomides, Graham Cole Floyd, Collin Thacker and MacKenzie Thacker; sister-in-laws, Eloise Stephenson, and her husband, Dwight, and Nell Pleasant; numerous nieces and nephews; and her very special and loving canine, Lexie, who comforted her to the very end.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. At other times, they will receive friends at the home of Scottie and Cathy Pleasant, 406 Biscayne Dr., Wilmington.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at College Acres Baptist Church, 702 Eastwood Road, Wilmington, with the Rev. Robert Keatts and the Rev. Jeff Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
