

HAMPSTEAD — George Anthony Rabito, 74, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016, at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Feb. 22, 1942, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Anthony James and Lucy Rose Cardone Rabito.
George is survived by his sister, Lynn Bronson.
George was a certified public accountant and was employed by various accounting firms in New York City during his career. He was also an award-winning photographer and valued member of the Wilmington Art Association who studied photography at the International Center for Photography in NYC and traveled extensively throughout the world photographing animals and their environs in Tanzania and Kenya, the rain forests of the Amazon, monuments and cities of Egypt, wildlife species of the Galapagos and the buildings and vistas of both Western and Eastern Europe. Later, he shifted his work to still-life photography for the fashion and beauty industries. After relocating to Wilmington, he photographed much of the natural and historic beauty of the area.
He served his country in the armed forces with honor and distinction.
