RALEIGH — Stella Sue Mercer, 85, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016. She was born Oct. 9, 1931, in Wilmington.
Mrs. Mercer was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Mercer; and her sister, Frances Habas.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Mercer of Jacksonville, N.C.; two sons: Lynn Mercer, and his wife, Rena, of Wilmington, N.C., and James Mercer of Jacksonville, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Zachary Mercer and Evanne Mercer, both of Wilmington.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan., 3, 2017, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Raleigh, N.C. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held that afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Wilmington, N.C.
