

WILMINGTON — Virginia King Wallace died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at Liberty Commons Nursing Center.
She was born Dec. 8, 1926, in Wilmington, N.C., the daughter of the late Adolph King and Chelly Jenkins King and was preceded in death by her daughter Candace “Candy” Raynor; brothers, Linwood King and A.L. King Jr.; and infant twin sisters.
Virginia was a member of Wrightsboro United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She graduated from New Hanover High School Class of 1944. Virginia was very active in all of her class reunions.
Surviving are her husband Edward M. Wallace Sr.; son, Edward M. “Mac” Wallace Jr. “Mac” of Wilmington; grandchildren, James E. Raynor, and his wife, Janet, and Gerald “Jerry” Raynor, and his wife, Deanna; and great-grandchildren, Garry, Andrew, Austin, Avery and Anderson Raynor. Also remembered are her special friends, Mary Hall Jones, Mabel Lee Kerekes, Charlene Farra and Teresa A. Murphy.
The family will receive family and friends at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m.
