Belva Walker Swinson, 82, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with dementia. Belva has joined her husband of 61 years, Earl, who passed away in 2016. Belva was born on May 28, 1934, in Mt. Olive, N.C.
Belva is survived by her son, John, 57; as well as two granddaughters, Tiffany Hewlett (Mike) and Candice Swinson; and three great-grandchildren, Mariah, Austin and Nate. Belva is also survived by three brothers, Derl Walker (Erna), Mack Walker (Mary) and Charles Walker (Precious) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Over the years, Belva was active in her church and president of her employment agency for 25 years. During retirement, she loved to travel but was limited due to her disease.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6th and Market St., Wilmington.
