Edward Stephen Wagner, 97, successful automobile salesman

Edward Stephen Wagner, 97, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, in Wilmington. He was born in Suffolk County, N.Y., on July 6, 1919, to George and Barbara Wagner.

Edward was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving during World War II. He was a successful automobile salesman for most of his career.

Remembered is his wife, Eleanor Kathryn Wagner, affectionately known as “Tolken,” who passed away in 2012.

Edward is survived by his daughter, Ellen K. White of Wilmington, N.C.; son, Edward S. Wagner Jr., and his wife, Sheryl, of Germany; four grandchildren, Sgt. Sean White, Heather Sharp, Megan Wagner and Maddie Wagner; and two great-grandchildren, James Edward and Sean Emerson.

A memorial service for Edward will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, N.C., with military honors.
