CALABASH — Evelyn Morris Gruber, 83, wife of the late Rev. Julian Randolph “Randy” Gruber, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017. She was a helpmate to her husband and his ministry.
Her life was one of great faith, strength and inspiration to her children. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Randy Hester.
Surviving are her children, Ramona Hester of Ocean Isle Beach, James Gruber of Calabash and David Gruber of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; “adopted” daughter, Susan Hughes of Ocean Isle Beach; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Morris of Lambertown, S.C.; sister-in-law, Emma Lee Gruber of St. George, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service honoring her life will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 30, at First Baptist Church of Shallotte. Interment will be held in Brunswick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
