

MAPLE HILL — B. Mae Lambert Gaines died on Jan. 30, 2017, 9:03 a.m. at Pen-Du Rest Home in Maple Hill, N.C. Mae was born March 17, 1933 in MacDonald, Robeson County, N.C., daughter of the late Erdmon Lambert Sr. and Arrie Biggs Lambert. Also, preceded in death are her brother, Erdmon Lambert and her daughter, Linda W. Gaines Hewitt.
Mae is survived by her devoted husband, Irvin L. Gaines. She is also survived by her step-daughters, Deborah L. Farias of Las Vegas, Nev. and Tammy Stempson of Sunnyvale, Calif.; grandsons, Chad Farias (Tepa) and Daniel Stempson ; granddaughter, Amanda Wehrman (Alan) and two great-grandsons, Edward Farias (age 13) and Charles Farias (age 7) of Hawaii.
Mae was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served as Relief Society and Primary President among many other callings. She and her husband served in the Raleigh Temple for 12 years and the DC Temple for six years. She sacrificed much in supporting her husband in his calling as Bishop and Branch President.
She worked with Consumer Credit Counseling Service as a Counselor and head of the Jacksonville office.
She was known as a sweet spirit with an infectious smile and would light up a room with her laughter and presence. She loved the Lord and was always willing to serve Him when called by the Brethren.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Pen-Du Rest Home for giving the best care possible, with compassion and love. Special thanks to Ms. Levoise English. The staff were so kind to her and Irv could tell she loved them too.
A visitation is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Zion branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1085 Highway 50, Maple Hill, NC. Funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at the Hampstead LDS Cemetery at approximately 2:30 p.m.
