HAMPSTEAD — Myrtle Bellamy Clark, 86, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at home surrounded by family. She was born Sept. 9, 1930, to Joseph and Melissa Bellamy in Hickman’s Crossroads, N.C.

All those who knew her were certain of one thing, Myrtle loved what she did. From her early years of cutting hair in the tobacco barn to having a shop of her own, Myrtle was passionate about her profession, and very proud of graduating Troutman Beauty School in 1952. For her, hairdressing was more than just a cut and a style. What mattered were the people and their stories. She never met a stranger. She looked for the good in everyone, from those she just met, to the nearest and dearest of family. A devoted servant of the Lord, she was very grateful for the life she led. She had an open heart and always put others before herself.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Lee Clark; and four sisters and four brothers. She is survived by one brother, Alton Bellamy, and his wife, Eunice Bellamy, of Wilmington, N.C.; daughters, Denae Hamblin, and her husband, Gary Hamblin, of Kannapolis, N.C., and Dianne Hefer of Wilmington, N.C.; grandchildren, Tracy Turnage of Wilmington, N.C., Kevin Farmer of Charlotte, N.C., Holly Davis, and her husband, Justin Davis, of Hampstead, N.C., and Lindsey Williamson, and her husband, Steven Williamson, of Wilmington, N.C.; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Andrews Market Street Chapel with the Rev. Joshua Lingner officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
