WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — Cedric David Williams died peacefully Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, surrounded by his family at Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Wilmington, N.C.

Mr. Williams was born in Bristol, England, to Phyllis Grosvenor Williams and Cyril Williams as the eldest of three brothers. He immigrated to Canada after completing his Ph.D. in metallurgical engineering at University of Cardiff, Wales.

He moved to the United States in 1972 to work for General Electric. His career was primarily based at the Wilmington GE Nuclear Fuels facility until his retirement in 2002.

David will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Nancy Ellen Kornegay Williams; son, Harvey; daughter-in-law, Cheryl; and grandchildren, Lindsay, Ryan, Callum and Graham; stepdaughter, Leslie; son-in-law, Paul; and grandchildren, Joseph and Nancy. His loss will also be deeply felt by his younger brothers, Clifford Barrie (Muriel), and Mike (Rose-Anne) in England; and by many other family members in England, Canada, and in the United States.

He loved living in Wrightsville Beach with Ellen for almost 40 years. Walking the beach, listening to the waves washing ashore, and enjoying the beautiful sunset from their home brought him much joy in life. He was loved and respected by his family, his many friends, and his community and will be deeply missed by all.

A celebration of his life will be planned for the early springtime.

Donations may be given, in lieu of flowers, to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice,
1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
