WILMINGTON — Gracie Lee Bennett Batten, 93 passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017.
She was born in Wilmington on May 20, 1923, to the late Exie and Willie Bennett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Batten; and stepdaughter, Gracie Moore.
Gracie was a lifetime member of Oleander United Methodist Church. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Gracie left a loving impression on everyone she met. She loved God, her church and embraced and loved her church family.
Gracie is survived by her children, James Batten Jr. and Elizabeth Batten Dowdy; four grandchildren, Star Howard, Kelly Holt, Wendy Carroll and Brandon Holt; and several great grands.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Oleander United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow visitation at 2 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, NC 28409.
