Ronald Lamar Beck, 71, died Sunday, March 11, 2017, at the Durham VA Medical Center. He was born Aug. 4, 1945, to Robert Leaman Beck and Irene Harrelson Beck.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Rachel ‘Clo’ Anderson, Carolyn West and Patricia Barber; and nephew, Robert Leaman Alverado.
Mr. Beck graduated from New Hanover High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a sergeant and worked for many years as a supervisor for the Timmie Corporation and Coastal Concrete Company.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Beck of the home; sons, Ronald Beck II and his wife, Sissy, Patrick Shane Beck, and his wife, Jennifer, Norman White Jr., Rodney White, and his wife, Bobbie Lynn, Jayson VanVliet, and his wife, Donna, Eric VanVliet, and his wife, Lauren, Ronald Casper, and his wife, Wanda; and dog, ‘R.B.’; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; Tabatha VanVliet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Coble Ward-Smith with Minister Eddie Reynolds officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn in the Mausoleum with full military honors.
