

WILMINGTON — Peggy Jean Richards, 79, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 9, 1937, in Wilmington, the daughter of Raleigh Brown and Mandy Benton Brown.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Linwood; daughter, Sandra Johnson; three sons, Gerry Naylor (Brenda), Ronald Naylor (Judy) and Hugh Naylor (Brenda); and nieces, Linda Heikkila, and Wanda Sue Raynor, who she loved and took care of. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Wendy Spivey, Lee Carroll, Gary Naylor, Michael Naylor and Nicole Memory; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Together with her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Peggy was a member of the Pine Valley Church of God and then became a longtime member of the Castle Hayne Church of God. She loved singing with Andy Ottaway and Harmony, along with the Paul Brown Singers. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, taking care of her family and being in God’s house with her Christian family.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, March 20, at the Castle Hayne Church of God, 60 Crowatan Road, Castle Hayne. A service to celebrate Peggy’s life will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Andrew Ottaway officiating. Interment will be held in the Richards Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the Castle Hayne Church of God in Peggy’s memory would be greatly appreciated.
