WILMINGTON — Bradley Barrett Lewis was born in Wilmington, North Carolina on Oct. 15, 1988, and went to be with his Lord on March 17, 2017. Brad was welcomed into heaven by his grandfather David Benton, formerly of Watha, N.C., and his grandmother Alma Lewis, formerly of Burgaw, N.C.
Brad was the loving son of Tommy and Joy Lewis of Wilmington, and is survived by brothers Ryan Lewis of Nashville, Tennessee (fiancée Ashley Soranzo of Decatur Georgia), and Drake Lewis of Shallotte, N.C. He is also survived by his grandmother Mary Benton of Watha, N.C. and Uncle John (Connie) Benton of Fayetteville, N.C. and Uncle James (Melissa) Benton of Watha, N.C. and Uncle Alan (Amy) Benton of Watha, N.C. and Uncle Steven Benton of Richlands, N.C. and his Uncle Bob Lewis (Sheila) of Clinton, N.C. and many cousins. Brad leaves behind his girlfriend, Natalie Hudson of Calabash, N.C.
Brad graduated from Ashley High School and attended Cape Fear Community College, Liberty University and Brunswick Community College. He loved the outdoors and was a Horticultural Technician at Carolina Creations. Brad was a dedicated employee and took great pride in his work and meeting his customer’s special request.
He was known as the cat whisperer because he had a heart of gold for animals and rescued stray cats. He leaves behind his beloved cat Spirit.
Brad enjoyed hunting, surfing, and snowboarding with his brother Drake. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed kayaking and exploring the ocean and rivers. Brad was fluent in German and had a great passion for history with an amazing ability to take you back in time and make history come alive.
He was a gifted artist and talented writer. He was funny and quick witted and his smile was a reflection of love and his caring heart. He loved his family and enjoyed the simple things in life such as grilling, making homemade ice cream and a cup of Blue Mountain Coffee. We already miss his laughter and nightly phone calls.
He was a member of Beach Assembly of God and former High School and College Sunday School teacher and most recently ran the sound for the church services.
Brad’s request to be an organ donor was honored and the gifts of his organs will allow many to live or have improved lives.
The family is grateful for all of the prayers, love and support from Beach Assembly of God, Ocean Isle Beach NC, Port City Community Church, Wilmington, NC and Winter Park Baptist Church, Wilmington, NC. We have been held by friends and family who have shared heartwarming stories where Brad led many to Christ through his testimony and life. The family would like to thank Grand Strand Medical Center ICU staff for their excellent and compassionate care that they provided for Brad.

The family will have a celebration of Brad’s life at Port City Community Church in Wilmington North Carolina beginning at 5 p.m., Monday, March 20, 2017. Visitation will be one hour prior, beginning at 4 p.m.
