WILMINGTON — Marsha Blake Wells, 65, died Monday, March 20, 2017.
She was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, July 1, 1951, to the late Louise Anderson Blake and Anthony Adrian Blake.
Marsha was a Christian with a strong faith that led her to service as a deacon and a Stephens Minister at St. Andrews Covenant Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Hoggard High School and attended UNC-Wilmington, where she met her husband of 44 years. She was a little sister to his fraternity, Pi Kappa Phi. Marsha loved the beach and was a longtime member of the Hanover Seaside Club. Most of her career was in banking, working at Wachovia, First Union and Newbridge Banks.
Marsha was loved by all of her customers, acquaintances, friends, and most of all, her family. She was an example to all who knew her. Even in the difficult battle with cancer, her courage, faith and sweet spirit radiated from her. She never lost hope.
Her three grandsons were the light of her life. So many joyful moments were spent watching them play ball, she was their biggest fan. Marsha’s husband and daughters cherish every moment that they shared. Marsha was one of five girls, and with the addition of three sisters-in-law, they shared an amazing bond, not just as sisters, but as best friends. Our family never took our time together for granted. We treasure every moment of having her as a wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Surviving are her husband, Rick Wells; two daughters, Robin Wells Manning and her husband, Chris, and Pamela Louise Wells, both of Wilmington, North Carolina; three grandsons, Evan, Garrett and Davis; four sisters, Myra Blake Burtt, Sharon Blake Walker, Deborah Blake Swart and Adrian Blake Bond; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in Sea Lawn Memorial Park, Hampstead, North Carolina.
Many thanks to the doctors and nursing team at Carolinas Medical Center.
