LELAND — Thomas M. Morgan, 82, was called home by the Lord Monday, April 3, 2017.
Thomas M. Morgan was born in Wilson, N.C., to Laudest and Vivian Morgan on June 8, 1934. In October of 1956, he married his childhood sweetheart, Ora A. Johnson, and through their union, they were blessed with three beautiful children.
Thomas M. Morgan was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Following his retirement, he moved to a town he helped found, Leland, and opened a mechanical shop by the name of Tommy’s Auto Repair.
For over 30 years, he fostered strong ties throughout the community, so much so that nearly every household knew and thought of him fondly, making him more than just the neighborhood mechanic, making him their friend. He continued to deepen his ties to the community and his faith by also being an active member of the Bridge of Life Community Church.
Thomas M. Morgan was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian I. Morgan; father, Laudest T. Morgan; and two sons, Danny T. Morgan and Tommy J. Morgan. He is survived by his wife, Ora A. Morgan; daughter, Patricia A. Asbell; and multiple loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 7, at Wilmington Funeral and Cremation, 1535 S. 41st St., Wilmington. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Bridge of Life Community Church, 2220 Mercantile Dr.NE, Leland, with Jerome Bullard and Tim Rausch officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family humbly asks that memorial donations in memory of Thomas M. Morgan be sent to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCare Center.
