

WILMINGTON — George Anthony “Tony” Rouse, 45, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017. Born in New Hanover County Feb. 1, 1972, he was a son of Barbara Smith Stewart and John William Rouse Jr.
Tony was a carpenter by trade. He was a general contractor, who built many homes in the Wilmington area.
Tony lived to play baseball and softball from a young age, and he loved any kind of sports. He was a bright and shining star who burned out way too soon. He loved to make people laugh, and you felt special just being around him.
His biggest achievement was his ability to love and be loved by all who knew him. His favorite thing was his mustang. He was very proud of his car. He will be so missed by so many!
He is survived by his mother, Barbara, and her husband, Timothy Blain Stewart, of Wilmington; father, John, and his wife, Melinda, of Wilmington; brother; John William Rouse III of Wilmington; stepsister, Tiffany Shannon Jernigan of Leland; stepbrother, Phillip Ryan Stewart of Leland; cousin, Catherine Adell Nelson; and nephew and niece, Jordan and Hailey Rouse and Mitch Keith.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 13, at Andrews Market Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, at Lake Forest Baptist Church, 1626 Lake Branch Drive, Wilmington. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilmington.
