Catherine Mills Little, 96, enjoyed working in her flower garden

BOLTON – Heaven gained another angel on Sept. 8, 2016. Mrs. Catherine Little, 96, of Bolton, North Carolina, left her earthly home and went to meet her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Little was born in Columbus County, on June 27, 1920, to the late Rev. Henry Mills and Carrie Callihan Mills. She was the oldest of their 13 children.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years Rosty Little, an infant son, and a great-grandson, Dillon Jacobs (Little), her brothers, Willie Mills, Jodie Mills, Clyde Mills, Roy Mills, Walter Mills, a sister Mildred Lanier and an infant brother.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Helen Simmons of Bolton, Carl (Virginia) Little of New Bern, Joyce (Earl) Malpass. Gene (AIatha) Little of Bolton, Jerry (Mary) Little of Delco, Donald (Sherry) Little of Leland, Cathy Crowley of Riegelwood, Ron Little of Wilmington, eighteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Little is also survived by her brothers, Rayford (Paula) Mills, Robert (Juanita) Mills, Burris Mills and her sisters Edna Wilkins, Eula Mae Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Little loved her Lord and Savior and was a lifelong faithful member of her church, Red Hill Pentecostal. As long as her health permitted she enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens.

She loved her family dearly and was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family received friends at a visitation on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at the Red Hill Pentecostal Church, 1198 Byrdville-Freeman Rd, Delco, NC 28436. The funeral service will be on Monday at 11 a.m. at the church, Rev. Calvin Malpass officiating, her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Ellis-Peterson Cemetery.
