WILMINGTON — Stacey Allen Munden, 59, succumbed to esophageal cancer Sunday, April 16, 2017, at his home surrounded by family.
Stacey is survived by his wife of 25 years, Angel Munden; daughter, Alexandra (Alex) Munden; sons, Zachary (Zach) Munden and Tyler Munden; sisters, Angelea Wilburn and Lynn Leonard; and brother, Robert (Rob) White. He will also be missed by his many cousins, nephews and extended family members. He is also survived by his beloved dachshund, Bella.
His fight against cancer was inspiring to his family and friends; even in his last days, he didn’t allow his cancer to define him. His strength will motivate his friends and family for many years to come. Stacey was a loving father, husband and friend to all.
Stacey loved cars and the automotive industry. He worked as a tow-truck operator for 20 years. He worked most recently for Wayne’s Towing, until he was forced to give up the job he loved due to his illness. He enjoyed the beach and fishing and spent many a sunny day with a fishing pole in one hand, Corona in the other. He also enjoyed camping with the family, family dinners and car shows. He will be missed for his jokes, his unforgettable laugh, and his big heart.
A special thank you to the nurses, social workers and other care team members of the Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington for their loving care and support of Stacey and his family in his final days. Also, thank you to the Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home for all the arrangements.
Visitation and memorial service are to be held at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home at 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington. Visitation will take place from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m., Thursday, April 20. Funeral services will begin promptly at 2 p.m. Stacey will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wilmington. A reception will be held at Zach’s house, 1118 Merchant Lane, Carolina Beach.
