Helen Elizabeth Czekalski, 73, volunteered with New Hope Clinic

OAK ISLAND — Helen Elizabeth Czekalski, 73, of Caswell Beach, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017, at her home with her family by her side.

Mrs. Czekalski was born in Philadelphia, Penn., Aug. 11, 1943, daughter of the late Francis Devine and Helen Warren Kuhs. She graduated from Archbishop Predergast High School before attending Saint Joseph College.

Mrs. Czekalski’s career spanned to many companies including: The Boeing Company, Champagne Associates, Department of Interior: Fish and Wildlife, Merrill Lynch and Physicians Alliances LTD.

She was very active in the community, enjoying the Red Hats of Caswell Beach, Beach Siren Book Club, Arboretum Social Committee, but especially volunteering at the New Hope Clinic. While Helen lived in many different places over the years, her home in Caswell Beach held a special place in her heart.

Survivors include her husband James Czekalski of Caswell Beach; daughters, Kristin Czekalski of Caswell Beach, and Suzanne Czekalski of Caswell Beach; sister, Margaret “Peggy” Bobeck, and her husband, Bill, of Media, Penn.; sister-in-law, Cathy Devine of Malvern, Penn.; nephew, Sean Devine of New York City; and niece, Erin Devine of Philadelphia, Penn.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Friday, May 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Southport, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, Helen’s family requests donations be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401; or Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
