WILMINGTON — Robert Lawrence Everett Sr., 75, went to be with the Lord Jesus Thursday, May 11, 2017.

Born December 10, 1941, in Brunswick County, N.C., he is a son of Pauline Ward Everett and the late Robert William Everett. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda Cole Everett; son, Robert L. Everett Jr.; and sister, Carol E. Dawson.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Gloria Jones Swain Everett; daughter, Paula Everett Cottle (Wayne); step-children, Edward Swain (Hildur), Brenda Swain Evans (Ken) and Charles Swain (Alice); grandchildren, Kenneth Shane Cottle, Brittany Lee Cottle, Joshua Aaron Cottle, Tiffany S. Andrews, Christopher, Nicholas, Spencer, Myles, Katherina, Helena and Annika Swain; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Ward Everett (Sandra); sister, Mary Hines (Larry); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barbara, Joe, Bobby, Ana and Gene; and many nieces and nephews.

Robert loved the Lord. He retired as captain with the N.C. Marine Fisheries Division. He enjoyed his time served in the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid golfer and loved his golfing buddies. He was an active member of the Ed Davis Sunday School class at Scotts Hill Baptist Church.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, at Andrews Market Street Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
