Andrew Stephen Hendrix, 34, enjoyed creating art at Fat Cat Pottery

WILMINGTON — Andrew Stephen Hendrix, 34, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017, at his home in Wilmington, N.C.

He was a graduate with a B.S. in Biology from St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, N.C., and did environmental studies at UNC Wilmington. He graduated from Rocky Mount Senior High in Rocky Mount, N.C.

He expressed himself with art all his life — the photo shows him working on clay sculptures at Wilmington’s Fat Cat Pottery, his home away from home. He was a loyal member of the Carrabba’s Restaurant team and served as a volunteer for the ARC in Wilmington for several years.

He is survived by his parents, Dr. Robert A. Hendrix and Karen E. Bessey; sister, Erika K. Hendrix; and brother, Allan Scott Hendrix.

A celebration of Andy’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 19, at Carrabba’s Restaurant, 15 Van Campen Blvd., Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the Autism Society of North Carolina; the ARC of North Carolina; and/or NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Health).
