KURE BEACH – Nancy Trapnell Cutsail Graham passed away on Sept. 21, 2016 after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.

Mrs. Graham was born Dec. 27, 1946, in Frederick, Maryland, to J. Alfred Cutsail and Helen G. Crampton Cutsail. Nancy was married to Richard (Dick) W. Graham II for over 45 years at the time of her passing.  They have one daughter; Tara Graham Stuekerjuergen married to Eric Alan Stuekerjuergen and one grandson Tyler Graham Gasser.

She graduated from Frederick High School in 1964 and from the Lutheran Hospital of Maryland School of Nursing in 1967 as a registered nurse. Nancy worked at the Frederick Memorial Hospital from 1967-71 in medical surgical and coronary care nursing. After getting married in June 1971, she and her husband moved to Prince Georges County, Maryland, where she worked for Prince Georges General Hospital and Medical Center in coronary care nursing.

In 1978, after moving back to near their hometown of Frederick, she worked for the State of Maryland, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where she did community health nursing in Carroll County. In 1987,  Mr. and Mrs. Graham moved to Chesapeake, Virginia, for Richard’s new job at the Norfolk Naval Base.  Here, she studied Interior Design at the Tidewater Community College and worked making custom drapery.

In 2003, she and her husband made their final move to their dream location near the ocean at Kure Beach, North Carolina, where they lived in the Kure Beach Village and had many excellent friends and neighbors.

She has been a volunteer for the Frederick Literacy Council as a tutor, Meals on Wheels in Chesapeake, Virginia, and a neighborhood volunteer in Kure Beach for the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, March of Dimes and American Lung Association.

She was a former member of the Evangelical Reformed UCC church in Frederick, where she taught Sunday school and was a Stephen’s Minister. In 1988 she became a member of the Great Bridge Presbyterian church in Chesapeake and, in 2003, a member of the Carolina Beach Presbyterian church, where she was active with the Naomi Ruth circle and served on various church committees.

In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by two brothers, Marc Alfred Cutsail and his friend, Dinah Bentley, and Keith Crampton Cutsail and his wife, Cindy Engle Cutsail; and nephews, Jason E. Cutsail with wife, Courtney, and their son, Grayson, and Ryan C. Cutsail.
