LELAND — Mary Ruth Fowler Wilkins, 81, of Town Creek Road, Leland, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at the home of Steve and Kim Wilkins in White Lake, North Carolina, where she was provided care by her son and daughter-in-law and Lower Cape Fear Hospice Home Care.
Mrs. Wilkins was born in Rockingham, North Carolina, on April 10, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Polie Lee and Mary Hayes Fowler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wilkins Sr., a daughter, Mary Thomas, and granddaughter Allie Wilkins.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Wilkins Jr. and wife, Becky of Leland, Steve Wilkins and wife, Kim, of White Lake; two sisters, Lucille Clemmons of Wilmington, Maggie McCullum of White Oak; a brother, Dewey Fowler of Wilmington; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, from 6-8 p.m., at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, and other times at 2449 Town Creek Road, Leland.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at 3 p.m. at the Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service Chapel. The Reverend Ron Capps will officiate. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Wilkins Jr., Steve Wilkins, Brandon Wilkins, Matthew Wilkins, Troy Payne, Mark Phillips.
