

WILMINGTON – Les Griego, 73, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Feb. 8, 1943 in Hoboken, New Jersey, son of the late Rocco and Catherine (Freund) Griego. He is preceded in death by his son, Peter; sisters, Irene and Ann; and brother, Sonny.
Mr. Griego was devoted to his wife of 30 years, Anne Griego, and adored his family and dog, Rocky. He served in the U.S. Army and was a successful sales manager in the trucking industry. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees. He had a love for fishing, crabbing and the music of Frank Sinatra.
In addition to his wife, Anne, his is survived by his children, Cathy Griego-Van Blarcom (husband, John), Tina Bello Berlinski (husband, Larry), and Matthew Griego. He loved his grandchildren, Joey, Christopher, Caroline, Frances and Samantha. He was known as the “favorite uncle” to many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at Andrews Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington, NC 28412.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 1011 Eastwood Road, Wilmington, NC 28403.
