

WILMINGTON – Mary Elizabeth Cooper Williams Holmes, 97, of Wilmington, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 13, 1918, in Little River, South Carolina, to the late Joseph Cooper and Flora Stanley Cooper.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, James Steele Williams Sr. and Dallas Granger Holmes, and her brothers, J. Warwick Cooper and Joseph Norman Cooper.
Survivors include her children, James Steele Williams Jr. and wife Georgia, Joseph Norman Williams and wife Margie, Thomas Delos Williams and wife Nancy, Mary Ann Riley and husband Marvin and Charles Alvin Williams and companion Sandra Wood; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at Andrews Market Street Chapel with Pastor Arnold Griffin officiating.
The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Skip Skipper, Bryant Riley, Larry Huffstickler, Dallas Williams Jr., James Steele Williams III and William Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Davison and Charlie Williams Jr.
Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, 520 S. 15th St., Wilmington.
