

WILMINGTON — Walter Melville Stockett, 85, beloved husband of Cheryl Ann Betz Stockett, of Wilmington, passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCenter in Wilmington.
Born in Baltimore, Md., May 21, 1931,, a son of the late Walter M. and Jessie Keller Stockett. He had been employed as a government contractor until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Harbor United Methodist Church.
Besides his wife Cheryl, he is survived by his daughters, Karen Lynn Floyd McGatlin and her husband Johnnie of Colorado, Denise Darden of Atlanta,Georgia, and Trisha Mullaney and her husband Dan of New Freedom, Pennsylvania; his son, William Allely and his wife Heather of Wilmington; his brother, William Stockett of Baltimore, Maryland, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Graveside Funeral Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington.
