Mary Lois was one to quietly go out of her way to help anyone who needed a little help.
Surviving are her loving husband of 63 years, James Daniel Vereen Sr.; two sons, James D. Vereen, Jr. and wife Debbie of Holden Beach, N.C., Joey D. Vereen and wife Ann of Pennsylvania; a daughter, Diane V. Alexander of Shallotte, N.C.; three brothers, Laverne Duncan and wife Wanda of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., Jerry Duncan of Ash, N.C., Deon Duncan and wife Mylinda of Salisbury, N.C.; three sisters, Vennie Hege of Holden Beach, N.C., Rendell Heath and husband Haywood of Ash, N.C., Vesta Degler and husband Roger of Shallotte; two grandchildren, Wendy F. Douglas, Joseph Daryn Vereen; and two great-grandchildren, Lydia Douglas and Alex Douglas.
