Julia Hayes Croft, 90, retired from the Daily Press

LELAND — Julia Hayes Croft, of Leland, went to celebrate her 90th birthday with her heavenly family on Nov. 1, 2016. Mrs. Croft was born on Nov. 1, 1926, in Leland, N.C., daughter of the late Earnest Hunter and Ethel Murrell Hayes.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Edward Croft, five brothers and one sister. Surviving are her brothers, Willie Hayes, Royal Hayes (Doris) and her special sister, Ruby Parker and husband, Bill. Julia was very thankful for all the help they provided the past 16 years. Also surviving is a special niece, Darlene Parker, and many other nieces and nephews.

She retired from the Daily Press in Newport News, Va. after 23 years of service and relocated back to Leland to be close to her family.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday Nov. 4, 2016, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. A gathering of friends and family will be from 1:30 to 2:30 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.

The Parker family wishes to express their special thanks and appreciation to Julia’s caregivers Sandy Wilson and Taylor Perry for the excellent kindness, care, concern and love shared with Julia this past year.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 403 East Front Street, New Bern, NC 28560; or Woodburn Presbyterian Church Building Fund, PO Box 1140, Leland, NC 28451.
