

WILMINGTON — Vera Ammons, 91, of Wilmington, N.C., passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, N.C.
She was born in Robeson County, N.C., on May 29, 1925, daughter of the late Bernice Franklin Tew and Mamie Louise McDonald Tew. Her husband, Julius Ammons, preceded her in death in 1974.
Surviving are her daughter, Judy Carver and husband, Chuck, of Ky.; grandchildren, Jeff Carver and wife Michelle, and Jennifer Carver; great-grandchildren, Cameron Carver, Colin Carver, and Kendall Carver; a sister-in-law, Irene Hulbert; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Dan Bailey.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, also at Andrews Valley Chapel with the Rev. Preston Wells officiating.
Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
