Jeanette “Jeannie” Haft Bowman, 76, employed with Giant Foods for 30 years

OCEAN ISLE BEACH — Jeanette “Jeannie” Haft Bowman, 76, passed away peacefully at her home on Nov. 5, 2016, in Ocean Isle Beach, NC.

She was born in New York on Sept. 19, 1940, the daughter of Herman and Rose Haft. Eight years later, her family settled in Baltimore, Maryland. She met the love of her life, Edgar Gerald Bowman at age 15. They were soon married and remained in Baltimore to build their life together.

Jeanette was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was proud of her three children and often spoke of their accomplishments to others. In addition to caring for her family, she was employed by Giant Foods for 30 years. She was well loved by her coworkers and they appreciated the joy and laughter she brought into their lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar G. Bowman Sr., her sisters, Eleanor Hall, Mildred “Milllie” Dare, Josie Haft, and Lucy Haft, brother Robert Haft and a close friend, Donald Davies.

She is survived by her daughters Debbie Lemon and her husband Ed, Brenda Reece and her husband Steve, and her son, Jerry Bowman; her grandchildren Chrissy Flanigan and her husband Brian, Stacey McCumbee and her husband Jordan, Jessie Bowman, Katie Bowman, Matthew Bowman, Sammi Redwine, and Kyle Redwine; and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Dorothy “Dot” Perry, a brother Leo Haft, and 7 nieces and nephews. She had many dear friends in Baltimore that she considered family.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel in Shallotte, N.C. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
