

OAK ISLAND — Ethel Moss Lowe, 96, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, at Ocean Trail Nursing Center in Southport.
Ethel was born June 24, 1920, in Elberton, Ga., daughter of the late Lulabelle and Asa Moss. She worked for Cartex Mills for many years and retired from Celanese Fiber in Salisbury, N.C.
Before moving to Oak Island to be with her daughter, she was a member of North Main Baptist Church in Salisbury. She became active in Bethel Baptist Church in Southport after her move.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Lowe; daughter, Vivian Wadene Queen; and three brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Lowe is survived by one daughter, Barbara Alvenia Kennedy, and her husband, Jerry, of Oak Island, N.C.; three stepchildren, Louise Boone, Marlene Brown, and her husband, Edward, Sonny Lowe, and his wife, Brenda, all of China Grove, N.C.; and seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at West Lawn Cemetery in China Grove, N.C.
The family would like to thank Ocean Trail Nursing Center for their great care and compassion during her stay there. They went above and beyond to make her stay as pleasant as possible.
