IVANHOE — Bradley Hayden Baker, 62, formerly of Wilmington, passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016. Born at Fort Campbell, Ky., he was the son of Beverly Senseney Baker and the late Ray Lee Baker.
Brad served in the U.S. Army, North Carolina National Guard, Jacksonville Police Department, Emerald Isle Police Department, and 32 years with the Wilmington Police Department.
He is survived by his wife, Shelly J. Baker; mother, Beverly Baker; daughters, Kathryn O’Reilly (Will) and Summer Baker, and their mother, Helene Engdahl; daughter-in-law, Katherine Baker; sisters, Robin Chase (J.T.), Betsy Baker and Lee Baker; brother, Grant Baker; five grandchildren, Megan, Riley, Jake, Hayden and Dylan; three great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, M.J. and Keira; and his faithful companions, Chase, his former police horse, and Bernedette, his beloved dog.
He was preceded in death by his father and his beloved son, Jon Ray Baker.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Andrews Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Road. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to recognize all their friends, coworkers, and the Wilmington Police Department community who have provided so much support.
