Dorothy Naylor Fitzgerald answered the call of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016.
She worked for Southern Bell for 41 years. After her retirement, she spent time volunteering for Calvary Baptist Church, which she loved.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James Fitzgerald; parents, Tillman and Nannie Naylor; sister, Elsie Hall; and brother, Prentice Naylor.
She is survived by her five children, Debby Boone (Dan) of Apex, N.C., Mike Fitzgerald (Andree) of Atkinson, N.C., Tim Fitzgerald (Lisa) of Castle Hayne, N.C., and Andy Fitzgerald (Jean) and Lena Parker (Ronnie), all of Wilmington; seven grandchildren, Daniel Boone, Jr., Jennifer Longworth (Ty), Stephanie Fitzgerald, Emily Fitzgerald, Michelle Fitzgerald, Casey Parker and Michael Marnelli (Maike); five and a half great-grandchildren; and many dear friends.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Donnie Lovette officiating. Prior to the service at the church, the family will received friends from noon to 1 p.m. Interment followed in Spell Cemetery, Roseboro, N.C., with the Rev. Ricky Spell officiating.
