OAK ISLAND — Thomas Frank Mignella, 82, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, N.C.

Mr. Mignella was born Oct. 17, 1934, in Bound Brook, N.J., son of the late Thomas and Alice Velcheck Mignella. Mr. Mignella, along with his brother, Robert, operated the family business Mignella Dry Cleaners & Tailors for 35 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

After living most of their lives in New Jersey, Mr. Mignella and his wife, Angela, moved to Oak Island in 1999. They became members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Mignella served in the Knights of Columbus for 17 years, earning his 4th Degree and was also a member of the Honor Guard.

Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Angela Mignella of Oak Island; children, MaryAlice Fox, and her husband, Clayton, of New Jersey, Patti Matte, and her husband, Craig, of Florida, Barbara McIntosh, and her husband, Mike, of California, Frank Mignella, and his wife, Krista, of Pennsylvania and Richard Mignella, and his fiancé, Gina, of New York; brother, Robert Mignella, and his wife, Beverly, of New Jersey; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation for the family will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service in Southport. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Southport, N.C. Inurnment will follow in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
