

SHALLOTTE — Audrey Frances Hampton “Mamaw” Salmon, 92, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Autumn Care of Shallotte.
She was born in Boyd County, Ky., on Nov. 30, 1924, the daughter of the late Valentine Hampton and Flora Jane Justice Hampton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Frank Donald Salmon; and a son, William Wesley Salmon. She was the last of 13 children.
Mrs. Salmon was a member of Camp United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and an active member of the Church Council. She was a member of the Brierwood’s Ladies Golf Association and she loved bowling. She retired after 25 years with Security Savings and Loan.
Surviving are two daughters, Virginia, “Gee Gee” Salmon of Shallotte, N.C., and Donna Salmon Davis, and her husband, Colon, of Benson, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Greg and Tammy Davis, Jeff and Dianne Davis, Anthony and Yevette Davis, Martha and Jim Kane, Karen and Eddy Jones, Heather Hardwick and Kris Mantey and Wes and Will Salmon, and their mother, Donna; and 12 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and four grand-dogs.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, at Camp United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard C. Vaughan officiating. Interment will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers include Kyle White, Larry Harrelson, Don Eagle, Rodney Gause, Michael McCullough and Calvin Chandler. W.J. McLamb will serve as honorary pallbearer.
