WILMINGTON — Joyce Matthews Alabaster, 66, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
She was born July 17, 1950, in Willard, N.C., to the late Fred F. Matthews and Hazel Murray Carol.
Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting, genealogy and travel. She worked as a registered sleep technologist.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Alabaster; son, Christopher Michael Alabaster; daughter, Karen Elizabeth Formy-Duval (Charles); granddaughter, Anna Marie Formy-Duval; three brothers, Ray Matthews (Linda), Tommy Matthews (Pat) and Larry Matthews (Alice); and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at Andrews Market Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Andrews Market Street Chapel with Pastor Phil Ortego from Scottshill Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
