David Pridgen Jr., 71, a Mason and a Shriner

William David Pridgen, Jr., 71, of Shallotte, died Aug. 30, 2016. He was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on May 22, 1945, to Edith Dees Pridgen of Fayetteville and the late William David Pridgen Sr.

He was a devout Christian and a Deacon of Jennie’s Branch Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and discussing world events, politics and other important issues with the Morning Bojangles Group, fondly referred to as “The Bojanglers.” He was a Mason and a Shriner and was employed for many years by Brunswick Insurance Agency.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda Pridgen Bell.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Judi Pridgen; sons William David Pridgen III (Debra) of Ocean Isle Beach and John Tate Pridgen (Laura) of Calabash; daughter, Paige Rivenbark of Longs, SC; sister, Angela Williams (Johnny) of Clayton, NC; grandchildren, Savannah, Elijah, Johnna, Mady, and his fishing buddies Emilie, and Carson; brothers-in-law, David Bair and Robert Bell; sisters-in-laws, Liza Bumgardner, Faye Boone, Grace Stallings, and Sybil Henkle.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at Jennies Branch Baptist by The Rev. Jonathan Shelor. Burial was in the church cemetery. The family received friends an hour prior to the service at the church.
