CALABASH — Annie Ruth Smith, 96, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, at her home.
Mrs. Smith was born Sept. 16, 1920, in Lumberton, N.C., to the late B.E. Gore and Maggie Broadwell Gore. She was a member of the Lighthouse Mission Church in Calabash, N.C.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Thomas Smith; son, Thomas Darrell Smith; and brother, Horace E. Gore.
Surviving are her daughter, Judith Riley of Calabash, N.C.; brother, William Gore of High Point, N.C.; special daughter-in-law, Carolyn Smith Schreiber of Calabash, N.C.; three granddaughters, Susan Suggs, and her husband, David, of Calabash, N.C., Lisa Shealy, and her husband, Bruce, of Prosperity, S.C., and Dana Smith, and her husband, Jimmy, of Calabash, N.C.; and four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at White Funeral and Cremation Service Chapel, Shallotte, with the Rev. Larry Ward officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens, Shallotte.
