WILMINGTON — Kelly Joe Smith, 58, of Wilmington, N.C., passed away Wednesday Feb. 1, 2017.
Born on June 23, 1958 in Hampton, Va., the son of the late Emory Earl and Billie Merck Smith, and was cared for by step father John Coley. He was employed with Rainbow International, and was a former employee of Mar-Craft.
Kelly was an incredibly kind person, always thinking of others. He loved his family.
His passions were bowling with his son, cheering on his alma mater NC State and taking care of his three rescued dogs: Willard, Valentine and Bosley.
He is survived by his wife, Amy; son, Coley; brothers, Jim Coley and wife Christie, Scott Smith and wife Pat, Billy Smith and wife Judith, John Coley Jr. and wife Mary Lou; Sister, Susan Smith; and stepmother Pat Smith.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at Port City Community Church. The family will see friends after the service in the family room of the church.
